If there was one thing I've learned about living a healthy life, it's that you have to get out of the goal oriented mindset. Healthy is a lifestyle and a continued commitment. It is not just losing 20 pounds, fitting into a size 4 again or looking as fit in a swimsuit as your best friend. There is SO MUCH that must happen internally, on top of being active, eating whole foods and drinking water. You need to realize that you are making changes to habits to last a lifetime. Otherwise, you reach your specified goals and then you lose the motivation to continue. Don't get me wrong, setting goals is PART of living a healthy life, but focusing on the bigger picture will make achieving those goals much easier.
When I was SUPER focused on the weight-loss part of getting healthy, I kept telling myself, "You already know what happens when you give up, find out what happens when you don't". I knew I was unhappy being out of shape, feeding my emotions with food and hiding in my home because I didn't have the confidence to go out and try new things. BE RADICAL focuses on all aspects of living a healthy life so that we can change your mindset to overcome the lies that you don't deserve to live your best life.
Finding the motivation to workout and eat healthy doesn't come easy, that's why we need a community of support to lean on and encourage us. Taking care of our minds and emotions helps to motivate us to continue feeling our best as well. We have to check in with ourselves regularly. What are the things triggering us and what happens when we are triggered? Are you stressed out because the communication in your relationship is lacking so you self-isolate and remain in a depressive state? What if you used that stress as motivation to run an extra mile this week? What if you could see the early onset of being triggered and knew yourself well enough to know that maybe you need to take a drive on some back roads with your music up?
Living a healthy life is as simple as doing things and surrounding ourselves with those that increase our positive energy and removing the toxic and negative energy. Focus on where you are going and not where you have been. When you are happier, you are healthier. When you are healthier, you are happier. What is ONE habit you can add to your daily routine that will bring you more happiness?
